    KritzKast

Don’t be confused and frightened by the Image you see before you. If you listen to episode, not only will it become clear, But it will also change the way you look at UGC forever. Speaking UGC check out their new shiny medals for highlander Season 6. While your at it, Check out the latest Community item to get into the game, the Front Runner. Or what about the cross over items with SMNC: the Triclops and Flamingo Kid. Wow, there are so many new items in this week it almost seems like that would be the whole show…..Not a chance.

You see this could be the week that we get our first glance at steam cards. An image has appeared (claiming to be from a Gamestop employee) of a $50 Steam card. Just imagine the possibilities. No longer would in game items be available to those Just with a credit card.

In the meantime, Why not have a look at the Vod for the Latest round of KLOC? As always, madness seemed to be a key factor in how the games played out. Plus UGC Highlander Season 7 sign ups are now open, head on over to UGCLeague.com to sign up now.

If that wasn’t enough for you, we’ve also got not 1, But 2 videos we’d like you to see. The first, a piece of out of game animation entitled Team fortress 2: Origin. The second is the infamous Star using possibly the worst combination of items (as rusky put it) and making them work………really well.

Plus we’ve got an amazing wood burn image of TF2 (see above), A list of people who want to do nothing more than give stuff away for free, The Lo-Fi Longwave making it way into Gmod 13 and 3 very intriguing emails. How do we manage to fit it all into one show? No seriously, Somebody explain this to me.

Brace yourself people. This isn’t your normal episode of kritzkast. This is an extra long bumper edition. Some would ask why. When you’ve got wm from Ozfortress, we don’t like skipping over things. Besides the latest community item, the Fruit Shoot, valve also added a nice selection of hidden gems. Starting with Valve Store Shipment Box, an item that does nothing and was ripped out of the game moments after it was added. But also a whole pile of code referencing sounds files that don’t yet exsist. Doesn’t seem intresting, until you mention the words MvM and giant robots. Keep your eyes pealed lady and gentlemen, this could get intresting.

If that wasn’t enough for you, We also want to reveal the true nature of the medic. An article on our website looks at the way the medic behaves both in game and in personality. Is there a connection? Have a read and find out.

Then we take a trip around the world. From South africa we have Gamers United Cup over at 16Bittf, If you fancy winning some Dota 2 beta keys, its worth taking a look. In the UK, i45, The largest Lan in the UK (arguably europe) has just come to a close. Catch up on all the action over at vanillatv.org. Then we wisk you all the way over to Ozfortress to talk about their new Training wheels scheme. Trying to find a way to improve your skills in TF2? This might be a place you want to visit.

Special thanks to everybody who emailed us this week, some fantastic emails sparking some great chats this week…..not to mention our player of the week nominated by wm himself. want to find out why, Check out this video.

How can we describe this weeks events in TF2? Revealing, Exciting, Enlightening or even Tasty? Actually we can sort of us all of those words. It starts with the Toss-Proof Towel, the latest community item to be added into the game. Also added in were three new strange parts (although one of them is currently unobtainable).

Then as you venture outside of the update you realize how revealing valve has been this week. Letting us have look at how their office works, Valve have released with Employee handbook. Not only that, But they have also shown us a glimpse into what may be in store for the Meet the Pyro video. Where did this imagery come from? Check out the new portal video and look in the bottom left about a minute or so in.

The Exciting parts comes in when We talk about the Mixup Up match 4. Which had just finished when we recorded, although you’ll have to wait a little while before you’ll be able to watch it. However you won’t have to wait to catch up with the KLOC event happening over at sandvichfort. OH and of course Kritzkast Distinguished Ducks making it into Div2 of ETF2L’s Highlander league…..not to blow our own trumpets.

As for Enlightening and Tasty, feat your eyes on these 2 videos. 1 giving you a run down of all of TF2’s lore in 60 seconds and the other of a step by step guide to making a TF2 sandvich cake. Add in your emails and suddenly this become a very packed show. Enjoy.

src=”http://wiki.teamfortress.com/w/images/c/c9/CrimeCraft_scout_and_heavy.png” alt=”” width=”281″ height=”175″>Team Fortress 2 updates are like busses; you wait for a few weeks for one to show up then two come along at once. It would have been easier to walk. Valve wish us to celebrate a free to play game, CrimeCraft by offering up Texas Half-Pants and a Bolt Action Blitzer if you manage to survive 6 levels of this uninspired game. Strange parts become removable and we mourn the loss of the dispenser’s ability to retain your overheal. The engie-nurf continues with buildings now granting medics charge is destroyed with their Übersaw. At least the engie gets to wear the Teufort Tooth Kicker if you really want to cowboy him up.

Currently unobtainable, the Mysterious Promo 2 bundle, containing only the Flare Gun is added. What can that be? If you don’t know, you’re in good company.

Wireplay drop their long running 6v6 tournament in favour of a Highlander league. Their last season of 6v6 was plagued with team drop outs. Lets hope this new direction pays dividends for them. KritzKast Distinguished Ducks have signed up already.

To top it all off we have your emails and a couple of movies from the best of the best in 6v6 TF2, Epsilon Esports and coverage of i43.

This week we have Arnold, the creator of Gullywash* – the most recent community map to be officially made part of the game. He’ll share with us details of his new masterpiece map, cp_croissant, plus how it’s become the center of attention on the competitive scene.

*To thank him more than we can, Go and buy yourself a cp_gullywash Map Stamp from the in-game store.

The Steambox might be back on the table again. Valve are advertising for hardware engineers. That’s right, the software guys are looking for hardware people to join the team. Bundle that with Tim Cook (Apple CEO) dropping by Valve Software and you have yourself a very curious puzzle indeed

Some Ozzi nutter had bet $1000 on the outcome of a single game of MGE TF2 just so he could meet someone.

Reddit Round Robin have entered their fourth iteration. Watch your fill of the matches here.

    [youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V7HtO57f1Es]

Lastly, A video that you all need to see. With audio borrowed from the late great Charlie Chaplin, mixed with video and graphics from our favourite game. It must be Dictator, By Shwiggan.

Valve may be on holiday, But that doesn’t stop us. It sure as hell doesn’t stop the community. So instead of talking about all the updates that happened this week, We’ve brought Comedian from Vanilatf2 along for the ride. Our first stop was talking about how Guild Wars 2 has taken a leaf out of TF2’s book while creating it new classes. Besides crediting Arena-net for this choice, It also makes us realize how influential this 4 year old game still is.

Coming from the video creating mind that are MisterMild and Maxofs2D, We have 2 videos that are simply must see. KIA a short film about the relationship the heavy and medic have. Plus the short, sweet and highly humorous Shakespearean Medic. Check them both out on our YouTube channel.

While valve have been on the down low, The competitive side of TF2 has been roaring with excitement. As ETF2L’s Season 11 comes to a climactic final, their second highlander season kicks off. Now with bigger prizes (even for the viewers). Speaking of prizes, Angels cup, is offering not only €750 for the winners, But also $300 for the best bug report on the unfinished map CP_Croissant.

To add to all that, we’ve got VanillaTV’s Frag movies of the month and the latest news about past and future KLOC events. Top that off with 3 discussion starting emails, suddenly a bland week in TF2, turns into a full week.

  • 162 STAR saws

    [soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/1507187305″ params=”color=#ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false&show_teaser=true” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]

When we get guests on the show it’s a real gamble. Sometimes they are quiet as a mouse, other times we can’t shut them up. This time we had on STAR, the guy from YouTube, and the gamble paid off. He’s got just the right mix of sarcasm and wit that mixed really well with the regulars. It probably helps that he’s actually talented, this week’s cover art having been ripped from his work on deviantArt.

All that was said with a straight face. Important to note because not everything that happened this week should be taken at face value. We aired on April 1st and as usual the internet was full of troll. More than a little came from the TF2 Wiki. It started with a Circular Circlesaw for Ricochet 2, continued with a fake hint at Half Life 3 in the form of the Heartwarming Headache and finished up with possibly the best “item we’ll never get”, the Crocketeer’s Cloak.

Surprisingly, Valve decided to avoid the whole joke update and instead gave us 3 hats. The Dueler, the Philateler and the Gifting_Man_From_Gifting_Land. All of which exist for just one day on each head they land, then move on to the next person (to have spent a great deal of money on the store). We also have an instant of anti-troll on cp_gullywash_final1 where a ladder that looks like it should have been climbable has been removed. Or as the April Fool’s wiki would have us believe, it hasn’t.

Lastly we have news of the TF2 Mix-up event so far making OVER 9000!! dollars for Child’s Play Charity, a discussion on this year’s Saxxy Awards and ranking for servers.

Go on, Show us your Strange Parts. By that I of course mean the strange parts that you can now add onto your Strange weapons. Such Strange weapons as the Sapper and Construction PDA. Yep, they both have strange version now available in creates. But to implement it, Valve added a Sapper and PDA slot to the Spy and Engie. Could this be the start of new types of weapons?

While you’re pondering that question, Take a look at the new Items Making their way into the game this week. The Waxy Wayfinder for the Pyro, and the Scrap Pack for the Medic and Pyro. Want to get hold of them both? One you can by in the store, One is a promo item. Find out which is which in the show.

However, the Big new this week is the finals of the South African KLOC event, hosted by 16BitTF. Agro even casted the finals with greaver and comedian. Take a look, Its one hell of a game. Just like the TF2-Mixup will be. I know we talked about it last week, but please take a look at it. Not only is it giving money to a very worthwhile charity, But it’s also your chance to play with an amazing group of people.

Then we have a story for you all. Listen to the show for all the details, But lets just say it involves cookies, Saxton hale and Broken merchandise from valve…….and a recipe for Superglue.

    [soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/1507187212″ params=”color=#ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false&show_teaser=true” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]

The TF2 Mix-up website was launched this week. Featuring Robin walker, Notch, Freddie Wong, Nathan Purkeypile (Bethesda), Yogscast, Brian Brushwood, Veronica Belmont, CaptainSparklez and so many others. There are more of our gaming heroes on the match roster than Gabe Newell could recruit in a week of headhunting, probably. Despite this there’s still three slots left, to be filled by you. We tell you how on this week’s show.

TF2’s Beta gets an update. In the long tradition of beta updates this basically means a bunch of fresh new nurfs for you to cope with. The Enforcer is slower to fire and trading now impossible.

Back in the real game, Sniper gets a leather backpack, the Cozy Camper, complete with dangling piss jar and koala. Solider’s buff/rage meters are fixed and Pyro’s Phlogistinator gets a couple of nerfs. Whom ever guessed “QR code” as the language for “Updating localization files”, take a drink.

Steam Powered User Forums ( or SPUF for short) finally have their own subsection just for the competitive players. This was largely the result of Ashkan, our player of the week, buiding a solid presentation to put before the Valve lot. Well done mate, though Extine pushing the point home can’t have harmed either.

As for the quickies, we make a good shot at them being the longies:

    • Ruskeydoo reports on a worrying trend of item makers’ accounts being hacked to get at their self-made hats
    • Our Steam friend Lucky Luke shows us how your friends list now has a search bar
    • Tempest talks to mnemosynaut about his recent contributions to the game
    • Collection packs are added to Steam Workshop
    • rubixRandomHero creates some cute knitted TF2 friends

We have a problem. Its one of those problems that can’t be solved instantly. We need to smoke a pipe to figure this one out. luckily for us, a new item entered TF2 this week that lets us solve problems by smoking nine pipes. unluckily for us, that will surly kill us.

Until then, we can all play a game of bomberman. Thanks to Mecha the Slags newest server mod, We can all do so while playing TF2. His new server mod lets you play a Demoman based bomberman. If you fancy playing it, Head over to the server here.

Meanwhile, this has also been the week of GDC, the Game Developers Conference. Last week we said that the steambox might make an appearance here. While yet to raise its console based head, Doug Lombardi made a statement on its possible existence that makes us scratch our chin even more than before.

If that doesn’t interest you, then Maybe Joe Ludwig’s seminar about turning games FTP is the things for you. He explains why and how TF2 start to quadruple its profit by giving it away for free. Maybe that’s the reason that Gabe is now officially the 864th richest person in the world.

Then to top it all off, we talk about how Laro Laro (the hardest working TF2 modeler) has been invited over to valve to meet the team. Plus your emails This week have been fantastic. Not only did we get a great piece of artwork (see above) But your emails spawned the new hit song…..Llama golfer.
