Go on, Show us your Strange Parts. By that I of course mean the strange parts that you can now add onto your Strange weapons. Such Strange weapons as the Sapper and Construction PDA. Yep, they both have strange version now available in creates. But to implement it, Valve added a Sapper and PDA slot to the Spy and Engie. Could this be the start of new types of weapons?

While you’re pondering that question, Take a look at the new Items Making their way into the game this week. The Waxy Wayfinder for the Pyro, and the Scrap Pack for the Medic and Pyro. Want to get hold of them both? One you can by in the store, One is a promo item. Find out which is which in the show.

Just like the TF2-Mixup will be. I know we talked about it last week, but please take a look at it. The TF2 Mix-up website was launched this week. Featuring Robin walker, Notch, Freddie Wong, Nathan Purkeypile (Bethesda), Yogscast, Brian Brushwood, Veronica Belmont, CaptainSparklez and so many others. There are more of our gaming heroes on the match roster than Gabe Newell could recruit in a week of headhunting, probably. Despite this there’s still three slots left, to be filled by you. We tell you how on this week’s show.

TF2’s Beta gets an update. In the long tradition of beta updates this basically means a bunch of fresh new nurfs for you to cope with. The Enforcer is slower to fire and trading now impossible.

Back in the real game, Sniper gets a leather backpack, the Cozy Camper, complete with dangling piss jar and koala. Solider’s buff/rage meters are fixed and Pyro’s Phlogistinator gets a couple of nerfs. Whom ever guessed “QR code” as the language for “Updating localization files”, take a drink.

Steam Powered User Forums ( or SPUF for short) finally have their own subsection just for the competitive players. This was largely the result of Ashkan, our player of the week, buiding a solid presentation to put before the Valve lot. Well done mate, though Extine pushing the point home can’t have harmed either.

As for the quickies, we make a good shot at them being the longies:

    • Ruskeydoo reports on a worrying trend of item makers’ accounts being hacked to get at their self-made hats
    • Our Steam friend Lucky Luke shows us how your friends list now has a search bar
    • Tempest talks to mnemosynaut about his recent contributions to the game
    • Collection packs are added to Steam Workshop
    • rubixRandomHero creates some cute knitted TF2 friends
  • 159 This is a Nine Pipe Problem

    [soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/1507187131″ params=”color=#ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false&show_teaser=true” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]

We have a problem. Its one of those problems that can’t be solved instantly. We need to smoke a pipe to figure this one out. luckily for us, a new item entered TF2 this week that lets us solve problems by smoking nine pipes. unluckily for us, that will surly kill us.

Until then, we can all play a game of bomberman. Thanks to Mecha the Slags newest server mod, We can all do so while playing TF2. His new server mod lets you play a Demoman based bomberman. If you fancy playing it, Head over to the server here.

Meanwhile, this has also been the week of GDC, the Game Developers Conference. Last week we said that the steambox might make an appearance here. While yet to raise its console based head, Doug Lombardi made a statement on its possible existence that makes us scratch our chin even more than before.

If that doesn’t interest you, then Maybe Joe Ludwig’s seminar about turning games FTP is the things for you. He explains why and how TF2 start to quadruple its profit by giving it away for free. Maybe that’s the reason that Gabe is now officially the 864th richest person in the world.

Then to top it all off, we talk about how Laro Laro (the hardest working TF2 modeler) has been invited over to valve to meet the team. Plus your emails This week have been fantastic. Not only did we get a great piece of artwork (see above) But your emails spawned the new hit song…..Llama golfer.

    [soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/1507187056″ params=”color=#ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false&show_teaser=true” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]

Well this was a week. We thought we’d seen it all, but we are always surprised by some of the things that manage to find their way onto the show. This week the big thing is simply a rumor. We could be talking about something that will never happen. But when that this is a steam console, its worth talking about. Plus with Valves track record, it would not be a huge leap of the imagination that this information was leaked out.

If we can drag you back to reality for just a moment. Valve gave us a couple of things to talk about this week. The patch was all about the Teufort Tooth kicker. The boots that make you look more handsome that a cowboy wrestling a pig. Not only that, but valve blogged about a great web comic that you all need to read….yes even you Timmy.

Maybe the biggest news is that the Kritzkast Lo-Fi Offclass Cup is going to be held in both South Afica and Asia. We always love it when different groups want to play with our ideas and make them their own. We love it even more when small or starting groups of gamers use it as a way to increase the number of people playing team fortress. With stunning posters from both 16bittf and Sandvichfort, we are hoping that people will have as much fun with the cups as we do watching them.

Speaking of watching things, This week could almost be called the video of awesome videos. There were 3 wanted to talk about on the show this week. One of them taught you how to use the TF2 wiki. Yes we know. you might already know how to use it. but please check it out, its fantastic. The next is from Maxofs2d and is a trailer for his highly anticipated Earthbound Fortress 2 series. I hope it’s as good as the trailer makes it look. The last one is really a thank you from last week’s guest Dusty Old Roses. Want to see what we are like in public, this gives you a fairly good idea.

  • 157 The beard of Gabe

Female voice actress extraordinaire DustyOldRoses joins us this week to talk about her work on the female voices of Scout, Spy and Engineer.

Crate 34 is destroyed and 39 takes its place with the super bright A Mann’s Mint and After Eight paints as possible contents. The Reggaelator gets 3 styles and the scout gets a new outfit, the Fast Learner.

NECA are making offical valve toys, showcased at “2012 Toy Industry Association Toy Fair”, where someone stole the Demoman’s head, oh the irony.

Speaking of the Scout; Nate, the original voice actor says he’ll do scout skits if he can get 100K subscribers.

    • Dr. Grordborts’s Medic and Scout Weapon packs are revealed:

Just remember this, Tempest and Chronos had beards before Gabe made them sexy.

  • 156 NSFW

    [soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/1507186723″ params=”color=#ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false&show_teaser=true” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]

What would you give to the player you love? A hat maybe? A map? Or how about a peice of coal crushed under the weight of the earth for hundreds of years? valve seems to think the last one, sometimes known as a “diamond”. Actually, Valve think that a digital one is a much better idea. But for $100 do you agree?

But if a Ring is not the TF2 Item you’re looking for, then fear not. We (and by we i mean valve) also have an eye patch to Snapped Pupil to hide those unsightly vision issues. We (still valve) also have a brand new fancy knife for you to play with. All you need to do to obtain Black Rose is Play a game of Alliance of Valiant Arms. Once you’ve done so, you’ll see this item magically apear in your backpack, However, bewear, you may also find other things on your PC.

That not the only thing to worry about. We have got the results back from Gabe about the damage done by the hack at Valve. It turns out that some usernames, emails and enypted card details were stolen. But only from 2004-2008. So if your the type of person chances passwords and emails, you have no need to worry. If you are not, then now is the time to start,

But if your not one of those item hungry people, then may we intrest you in an Experimental Highlander cup? No…how about a final in an Experimental highlander cup? I thought you might like the sound of that.If you fancy checking it out, Vanilla TV did some fantastic coverage of it.

So why is the episode called NSFW you ask. When we start to talk about Team Fortress PiratesTF2 Porn, A Meet the Pyro comic that will stick in your head for days, and start mulling though your emails…..the episode starts to….well, you’ll see.

  • 155 We need a montage

    [soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/1507186660″ params=”color=#ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false&show_teaser=true” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]

We’re going to need a montage to get through all the content this week. To start with Ruskeydoo has joined our ranks as a full-time presenter on the show. \o/

Dr. Grordbort is testing the water with two new packs for Scout and Medic. Though nothing is set in stone, Weta are asking you to vote for which you want, or don’t want. Regardless of how much you may not want the Scout to get anything new, Valve have gone and ponyed up a for a boombox that plays 4 different thumping taunt tracks.

Speaking of ill tunes, the latest offering from the TF2 Jump guys has a sound track you’re going love if you have any soul left. Hell, we even named the creator as player of the week!

Ruskeydoo has been with us less than a week and he’s already moonlighting for UGC in the 3rd Communities vs Pros event. I think he may still be playing that match in his head. No mind, we’ve got plenty of TF2 fixes and updates to keep us entertained. Everything from the Soda Popper to the Hero’s tail has either been tweaked or, in the case of items such as the Dashin’ Hashshashin and Nanobalaclava, made paintable.

The e-mail bag is all about items and trading. Droogie kicks off the trading discussion so we chat about the fabled TF2 Spreadsheet before Moregun Freeman gets moves us on to TF2 Raffle. Finally Stephen Merchant gives us all something to think about. Well, he gives the Heavy 4billion combinations of things to think about.

This week Valve has given us a glance into what they are planning for the rest of the year. When i say glance, i really do mean just a glance. Their biggest piece of news is that they are working on something big, but they can’t tell us what. The rumor mill is full of potential projects it could be. Not only do we go through some of the most common one, we also talk about how they have confirmed that this will be the year we will finally have meet the Pyro in our hands, More Saxxy awards and big things happening in the workshop.

But that’s all what valve are planning on doing in the coming year. This week however, they still managed to put out an update, featuring a brand new user created item The Conquistador. But if you want some new items right now, You might consider Pre-ordering Jagged Alliance. If you do, you’ll get the Battle Bob, Bushman’s Boonie and the Merc Medal.

Don’t forget to mark your calendars for this coming Saturday. That will be when the Communities vs Pros III event will be going live. If you want to get any details or watch it live, EOReailty is the place to look. In the mean time, why not get hold of the new Steam mobile apps we talked about last week. Whats new you ask? This week is open and free for all to try.

This is the week that steam took a huge leap into the mobile market. This week Steam launched a beta version of its app for Iphone and Android. We managed to get our way into the beta to be able to tell you all the features coming your way. Steam chat, steam groups and even player profiles all accessible while on the move. We even has a 45minute video demonstrating it all.

But valve didn’t stop there. They also patched TF2, adding in a new community made item, Aladdin’s Private Reserve. But it was in the Beta version of TF2 that the big changes happened. Both the heavy and the spy get nerfs that don’t have people calling out injustice, but actually smiling with intrigue.

Then you’ve got gamingheads taking pre-orders for the medic statue. Yes we talked about the statue before, but now you can actually get hold of one, instead of just pining over valve copy. Announced this week was the official line up for the next Communities vs Pro event. The apply named Cold War, will be happening on February the 11th. If you want to watch it live, just head over to eoreality.net/events

  • 152 Dr. Grobotnik wears a Lo-Fi?

    [soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/1507186378″ params=”color=#ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false&show_teaser=true” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]

We have been flooded with items in TF2 promoting a new pre-release on steam. Actually, when I say flooded what I really mean is we’ve got three of them. Two helmets and a badge are available in genuine quality if you wish to pre-order the upcoming RPG Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning.

The TF2Maps.net item we mentioned last week has finally been placed into the game. The Mappers Medallion is now not only in the game, but up for grabs for the winners of their latest contest, any previous winners and if the stories prove to be true everyone who entered the Artpass contest. That’s a bucket load of winners.

Meanwhile, over in the world of eXtelevision, eXtine has started his own Video show about the state of the game and the US competitive scene. He’s managed to take the considerable feedback he received from his first green-screen experiment and made this second episode into something very interesting. The still as-yet untitled, “Show with no name” is well worth checking out.

The TF2CSA (Competitive South Africa) currently have sign ups open for their first, foundry Cup. The odds of winning are still pretty good, so if your ping to this corner of the world is low enough sign up for fame and glory.

It seems like this show is all about competitions and prizes. Facepunch are hosting a series of quick draw modding competitions. In this first one they asked teams of two (see link for random team names) people to make an item for TF2 in the theme of “Retro futureistic”. If steam punk is your thing keep tabs on this site. If you want to give it a go yourself take heed of Pogo’s Resources and Tutorials post.
