I totally agree with whoever said he hates the trade feature. It’s getting really annoying: now kiddies keep spamming the server about trading and not playing the game (and if you don’t disable trade request, it’s even more annoying). It feels more and more like Diablo 2…
A simple trade sometimes unbalanced the game, as 2 to 4 people stopped moving while the game goes on.

I think they should have kept the trading system outside of the actual game, like on Steam friends for example.

Aside from that, I’ve deleted 4 mann co. crates so far. I’m on the lookout to delete more of them as I receive’em. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Paying for items (which are overpriced anyway) is kind of unappealing to me really, but that’s OK since those which have influence on gameplay are craftable or droppable. Good thing. I’m sure by now Valve already made thousands of dollars out of the mann co store anyway.
As you said, it’s an experiment, that’s for sure. Just like DLCs have been and now are widely used and profitable. :/

Great show guys, keep it up!

At first I was pretty disappointed by this apparent sell out behavior but after a little i think it is pretty obvious why they are doing it…

If trading was implemented without the option to buy things then people would head straight to e-bay and start buying/selling things anyway, keeping valve completely out of the loop. As I believe happens in every online RPG ever. Selling things officially is a way to put a price cap on things and stop trading sending everything all black market. Besides, you can still craft all these items by using the usual 2 item community items method anyway. the set hats are getting blueprints too.

Yes, some people will just buy everything, but would you rather they did it via ebay or Valve?

i feel you guys really didn’t cover this side of the argument over whether or not the manco store is justified.

i am admittedly a little butthurt over the KEY situations, they arent really affordable and they don’t drop at all. hopefully that will be changed. but yea, carry on.

I spent ยฃ15 on a few hats and a couple of small cheap items that I’d been waiting to drop forever and never happened, such as the Crit-a-cola and Gunboats. If anything it was more like sending a donation to say thanks to Valve for the past three years of free updates. And I got some in-game items as a bonus. I won’t be spending any more, though. Valve deserve whatever money they make from it.

Seconding the Key comment, however. If you can trade a crate for reclaimed metal, bloody do it.

Also, yeah I idled and got the Cheater’s Lament on this update. Not sure if this is a bug or if they were just dropping them because of the shitstorm they caused.

I agree with Cereal there. Good analysis. I did not think of that.

glubbar, i honestly posted my previous comment here because they do claim to read the comments. i hope they read it out on the show and wouldn’t want it lost among a sea of emails. i really do hope they mentions this on the show, though anyone but chrono’s read it, i have to turn my sub-woofer off when i listen otherwise his voice creates a bass quack powerful enough to knock pictures off the wall.

Adding a store doesn’t stop people selling items on E-bay. They’ll make a killing when they can sell items people want at a reduced price than the Store. In fact it’ll promote idling even more so than normal. Now people can idle and get items and sell them on E-bay while easily beating the Valve price, which will make it more likely than it would if people didn’t have an option to buy it. As generally people won’t assume a price on items until someone puts one on it. The only reason items in MMO’s have a loft re-selling price is due to monthly fees, time spent and so on which can easily justify it for people.

The trade system is just utterly annoying in game, can’t people just play the game and trade outside of it? I wish it could be forced off on a server to ensure people don’t spam chat or idle.
